All active registered voters are eligible to vote.
Voter Eligibility
- A United States citizen and a resident of California,
- 18 years old or older on Election Day,
- Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony, and
- Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court.
When to Reregister
Voters should complete a new voter registration application, commonly called reregistering, when any of the following changes to their voter registration occur:
- Residential address.
- Name (first, middle, and/or last).
- Political party affiliation.
IMPORTANT: After doing business with the Department of Motor Vehicles its important to check your voter registration to verify your voter registration has not changed.
How to Register
Eligible voters may register to vote in several ways.
- Visit the California Secretary of State website https://registertovote.ca.gov/ and complete an online voter registration form.
- Visit the Humboldt County Office of Elections at 2426 6th Street, in Eureka.
- Visit a United States Postal Office branch to pickup a voter registration form.
Reminder: No postage is required to mail a voter registration form to the Humboldt County Office of Elections.
